Understanding Brand24
Brand24 Counts Words You Already Know
Brand24 is a media monitoring platform built in Wroclaw, Poland. Michal Sadowski and three co-founders started it in 2011 for a simple reason: every monitoring tool he tried was either unreliable or priced for corporations. The company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2021, and Semrush bought a majority stake (about 58 percent) through its Prowly subsidiary in April 2024.
At the job it was built for, Brand24 is good. It watches more than 25 million sources: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Quora, Telegram, Medium, news sites, blogs, forums, podcasts, and review sites. It scores sentiment in more than 100 languages, estimates reach, spots influencers, tracks share of voice, flags spikes with event detection, and builds reports you can hand straight to a client.
The AI layer is real work, not decoration. Brand Assistant lets you ask questions of your own data in plain language. AI Insights writes a weekly summary of trends and what to do about them. The AI Visibility tab tracks whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity mention your brand at all, and Brand24 shipped an MCP server in January 2026 so you can pull your monitoring data into an AI chat. Very few tools at this price ship that much.
Brand24 also publishes its prices, which puts it well ahead of the enterprise crowd. Individual runs $249 a month, or $199 billed yearly. Team is $349 ($299 yearly), Pro is $499 ($399), Business is $699 ($599), and Enterprise starts at $1,499. Every plan gets a 14-day trial with no card.
Here is the catch for copywriters, and it sits in the input box. You type keywords. Brand24 returns the matches. The whole model assumes you already know which words matter. For guarding a brand, that assumption holds fine, because you know your own brand name. For copywriting it breaks, because finding the words you had not thought of is the entire job.
Say you are writing for a project management tool. You would track “project management software” and get thousands of hits. You would never track “I spend every Monday morning rebuilding a spreadsheet nobody reads.” But that sentence is your ad. Brand24 will not hand it to you, because you did not ask for it.
Keyword caps make the problem worse. The Individual plan covers three keywords and 2,000 mentions a month, and it refreshes every 12 hours. Three keywords is nothing for a real research project, so you ration them. Rationing keywords means narrow language, which is the opposite of what copy research needs.
There is a second structural gap, and it matters more than the price. Brand24 hands you the post or comment that matched, plus a little context. Copy research needs the conversation: the reply, the person who disagreed, the guy three comments down who explains what actually went wrong. Reviewers regularly describe Brand24's Reddit coverage as surface level, and Brand24 itself does not claim complete Reddit coverage.
Then there is the output. Brand24 tells you talk about your category ran 71 percent positive last month. That is a clean slide in a monthly report. It does not tell you which sentence opens the email. Reviewers also note that sentiment scoring struggles with sarcasm and dry humor, which is roughly the native language of Reddit.
The PhraseMine difference
PhraseMine Reads the Conversation, Not the Keyword
PhraseMine flips the input. You do not hand it a keyword list. You write a short brief describing the product, the audience, and the problem you are writing about.
From there PhraseMine's AI builds the search strategy for you. It runs a broad search of 15 to 25 angles, then a focused search of five to 10 more that drill into whatever the first pass turned up, then three to five edge cases hunting for niche and contrarian takes. That last step is where the surprising phrases usually live. You get language you could not have specified in advance, because the tool went looking on your behalf.
PhraseMine covers Reddit only, and that is a deliberate trade. Brand24 watches 25 million sources at once. PhraseMine goes deep on the one place where people talk to each other instead of at brands. It also reads the whole thread, replies included, rather than the single comment that matched a keyword. That difference is the point. The line you want is usually buried in the back and forth, not in the top-level post.
Instead of a sentiment percentage, every excerpt gets a research tag: Pain, Dream, Obstacle, Trigger, Identity, or Objection. Those six labels map to real copy jobs. When you need a lead that opens on frustration, you filter to Pain. When you need to kill the price worry on your order page, you filter to Objection.
Every excerpt also carries an awareness stage from Eugene Schwartz's five-stage framework. "I had no idea a tool like this existed" lands at one end. "I have had three tabs open comparing these for a week" lands at the other. You always know which asset a line belongs in.
PhraseMine then gives you two things a monitoring dashboard never will. Voice profiles pull your research themes into one writing reference you can hand to another copywriter or paste into an AI tool. Saturation reports tell you when you have enough material and where the gaps still sit. A mention feed runs forever by design. PhraseMine tells you when to stop.
Cost works differently too. A full research session costs a flat 20 credits. The Interest plan is $29 a month for 100 credits, and Desire is $99 a month for 400. No keyword cap, no monthly mention ceiling, no annual commitment.

If your job is protecting a brand and reporting on it, Brand24 is built for you, and it is one of the better tools in that category at a price you can read on a web page. If your job is writing the words that sell the thing, keyword tracking and sentiment charts leave you short. You need the actual sentences people say, sorted by what they do for your copy. That is the whole reason PhraseMine exists.
Stop Counting Mentions and Start Reading Conversations
PhraseMine goes and finds the language you would never think to put in a keyword tracker, reads the whole thread around it, then tags every excerpt by research type and awareness stage so you know exactly where to use it. Sign up free, run your first session, and see what your buyers actually say.
